On the 24th of August 2026, a Steel Cutting Ceremony was held at New Dayang Shipbuilding in China for the first of three new Ultramax bulk carriers forming part of the fleet renewal initiative.
During the ceremony Plamen Dimitrov, Executive Director of IHB Shipping, had the honour to formally begin the building of the ship. The ceremony marked the official start of construction and the first production milestone in the newbuilding project launched with the signing of the contracts with New Dayang Shipbuilding in June 2024.
IHB Shipping is involved in the project in line with its established approach of taking delivery of vessels from the shipyard and managing them on a long-term basis. The first vessel is scheduled to enter service in June 2027, with the remaining two to follow in 2028.
The three-vessel project also marks the beginning of a successful relationship with New Dayang Shipbuilding and SUMEC Marine, built on professional cooperation, mutual trust and a shared commitment to safe and high-quality execution throughout the construction of all three vessels.
